Side-hinged Garage Doors

They work with a simple swinging door mechanism, opening from the side, as their name suggests, rather than the floor. They can often be produced as a 50/50 or 70/30 split depending on your access needs.

Up & Over Garage Doors
This is the most popular type of garage door. Rather than being made in sections or two separate pieces, the up-and-over is formed of one solid block.
How they operate
Up-and-over canopy doors have a pivoting hinge mechanism so they can tilt up and sit parallel to the top of the garage. Up-and-over retractable doors are similar, but lift up and into the garage so they don’t protrude past the opening.

- Canopy up-and-overs are quick and easy to install, and provide full drive-through width
- Retractable up-and-overs can cope with heavy door panels and are easily automated
- Canopy up-and-overs are more difficult to automate
