3 Things That Must NEVER Be Stored In Your Garage!
Although we may not get many sunny days in our summer in the UK, but when we do, you can guarantee everyone’s outside on the patio catching the summer sun or getting ready to head out and see the family for summer BBQ’s.
However, there is one thing that lots of people are doing that they 100% shouldn’t: storing dangerous and hazardous items in their garage.
To ensure you, your family, pets, friends, pets and visitors are safe, please have a read through the top 3 things you should NEVER keep in your garage no matter the circumstance.
-
Propane Tanks
It doesnt matter how full or empty the tanks are, you should never ever store propane tanks in your garage. The fumes can seep out over a long period of time which could ignite when your car is starting or when a gas-powered appliance is in use. We know that nobody likes storing their propane tanks outside, but when you consider the risks of a gigantic explosion to a rusty propane tank, the choice becomes very simple.

Tinned Food
This one seems to shock people the most. Whilst storing tinned food in your garage may seem like a great idea when your kitchen cupboards are bursting at the seems, the fact is that this could lead to ultimate chaos. Tinned food will begin to cook at high temperatures and will spoil. So as tempting as it may be to store them in the garage to free up some extra space in the kitchen, keep your tinned food in the kitchen!

Papers and Documents
This is a common mistake lots of people make unfortunately. If you think the garage is a great place to store your old tax returns, birth certificates, wage slips etc… you need to seriously think again!
Flies, bugs, and all types of insects feast on paper which can turn your garage into a bugs life. Not only will you lose your all important documents, but you will need to give the exterminator a call out too. If you want to store your documents somewhere safe and out of the way, then you are best storing them in an insulated attic. If you store them in the basement then ensure there is no damp or mould. Or even better? You could rent storage space for a few pounds to provide you with safety and peace of mind.
